New NMR Approaches to the Study of Phase Separation in Polymer Solutions
نویسندگان
چکیده
. A H NMR spin-echo pulse sequence was used to study the temperatureinduced phase transition of poly(vinyl methyl ether) in deuterated water/ethanol (D2O/EtOH) solutions. This method allows improvements in the determination of temperature dependencies of the phase-separated fraction of PVME in solution. Halfwidth of the broad peak corresponding to the phase-separated fraction was determined using fit of Gauss-Lorentz curve. By this procedure we obtained values for spin-spin relaxation times at particular temperatures, which in turn gives information about the mobility of the globular phase. Furthermore, occurrence of chemical exchange between free and bound ethanol caused by ageing of solutions was revealed. C NMR spinlattice relaxation measurements were employed to investigate this exchange. The chemical exchange constant was determined using McConnell’s equations.

Application of Ion - Imprinted Polymer Synthesized as New Sorbent for Preconcentration and Separation of Thallium (I) and Its Determination by Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy
At this study, thallium (I) ion-imprinted polymer, as a novel sorbent for Tl (I) and comparison with Tl(III) ion-imprinted polymer has been synthesized. This sorbent for preconcentration and solid-phase extraction of Tl(I) ions from aqueous solutions, used. Through preparing the binary complex of Tl(I) ions with 5, 7-dichloroquinoline-8-ol (DCQ) the particles of thallium (I) Ion-Imprinted P...

Phase-Destabilization Mechanism of Polymer-Modified Bitumens in Quiescent Annealing
Bitumen as a binder in coating and insulating materials is modified with polymers to improve its performance in service conditions. Almost all polymers are incompatible with bitumen, and at high temperatures due to relatively very low viscosity of the bitumen phase, are separated from it. These lead to a considerable limitation in the use and handling of polymer-modified bitumens. An understand...
متن کاملPhase Separation in Water-Ethanol Polymer Solutions Studied by NMR Methods
We applied H and C NMR spectroscopy to investigate a phase transition and a cononsolvency effect of uncharged poly(N-isopropylmethacrylamide) (PIPMAm) and negatively charged PIPMAm copolymers in water/ethanol (D2O/EtOH) mixtures. For this purpose several PIPMAm solutions with various volume mixture compositions of D2O/EtOH (100/0 5/95 vol.-%) were prepared; sodium methacrylate was used as an io...
متن کاملHPLC-SPE-NMR: a productivity tool in natural products research
Natural products provide excellent potential leads for drug development because of their chemical diversity and biological functionality. However, the productivity of discovery of new, pharmacologically active natural products has traditionally been low due to inherent difficulties and costs associated with extract dereplication, i.e., isolation, purification and structure elucidation of indivi...
